National Chemistry Week - Outreach Event!! (Sunday 1:30- 3:30 pm, Morrell Park)

Join us in Morrell Park (just up river from the Marriott) as we celebrate “MARVELOUS METALS” and National Chemistry Week with the public. The event is free and will occur outside in beautiful October weather!!

Graduate School Fair (Sunday, 4:30 - 7:30 pm, Marriott, Atrium & Pre-Function Area)

Join over 40 graduate programs and 2 poster sessions in the Atrium of the Savannah Riverfront Marriott for the SERMACS 2019 Graduate School Fair

As part of our undergraduate program and graduate school fair, you are invited to enjoy a piece of pizza and network with the representatives of our > 40 graduate schools, presenters at our 2 poster sessions & the rest of your peers.

ACS Board of Directors Ice Cream Society (Monday, 4:30-5:30 pm, Marriott, Atrium)

Meet members of the Board of Directors, enjoy a poster session and finish up visiting the exposition all in one while you get a cool ice cream to end a busy Monday of technical sessions.

Women’s Chemists Committee - Just Cocktails (Monday, 7:30 pm, 5 Spot on Broughton)

Join a celebration at a local pub and network with professionals @ Just Cocktails. This event, sponsored by the Women’s Chemists Committee will be a great opportunity to relax and enjoy a drink with your colleagues. Enjoy a stroll through Savannah squares to get to the event at the 5 Spot on Broughton, 420 E. Broughton Street.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22

Senior Chemists Breakfast (7:30 am, Ballroom D, must register)

Enjoy breakfast and a coffee with your colleagues. Dr. Nelson Lawson will discuss his pathway to a successful consulting career after retiring having led a technical team in chemical industry for over 20 years.

Pints to Pathways at Service Brewing (6:30 - 9:00 pm, Service Brewing Company, 574 Indian St)

Come join us at Service Brewing and get inside information on how you could progress in your career.  There will be designated spots inside and outside the brewery where you can talk with people working in different chemistry positions and maybe a have drink or food with.  You will be able to ask any questions you want from people actually in those positions. You can ask things like “What are tips for where I am now?”, “What is better, more research or an internship?”, “How did you find get your postdoc?”  We will have faculty from undergraduate (PUI) and graduate (Ph.D.) teaching institutions, large and small industrial companies, and graduate students and postdocs. 

Registration gets you into the brewery and two discounted beers. The brewery is 21+ but there is open, outdoor seating and there will be a local food truck with refreshments.  If you are under 21 you don’t need to register, feel free to just show up.  All are welcome. 

Location

Service Brewing is a short walk along the beautiful downtown Savannah River front.  You can also easily use a ride-share service, Pedi cab, or taxi to get to the brewery.  There is a free water taxi that runs every 30 minutes between the Savannah Marriot Riverfront and Savannah City Hall, this is a fun way to go about half way to Service Brewing.
